Thisness. 24 inches x 18 inches. Acrylic on canvas. 2014.
A pilgrim on the journey Home, I am often presented with life's big question - Who am I? This is my story, as my mind sees and my heart feels. It portrays my prayers and spirit as I search for peace and true wisdom as a Christian. I hope that in pondering these paintings, something moves you in some way to evoke your story too, inspiring you to hit the trails of life with new hope and joy.

Francis and the Frog
Francis and the Frog.
16 inches x 12 inches. Acrylic on canvas. 2011.
Not for sale.
A certain interpretation of St Francis of Assisi in this pose has him holding a bird in his hand. Well, this is my take - I think frogs are delightful and indeed, Francis and the Frog always brings on a smile :-)

Knock
"Knock, and it shall be opened unto you." - Matthew 7:7.
La Foresta
La Foresta is one of four sanctuaries (including Poggio Bostone, Greccio and Fonte Colombo) in the Rieti Valley, Italy where St Francis of Assisi spent much time in prayer.
La Foresta was my favourite, perhaps because it was a cheerful, sunny morning when I visited in April; hence my take of the place with these colourful rooftops.
Eremo delle Carceri
Eremo delle Carceri. 18 inches x 24 inches. Acrylic on canvas. 2011.
Not for sale. Private collection.
Eremo delle Carceri is a hermitage in Assisi, Italy - it is where St Francis of Assisi retreated to for quiet time. The painting is an interpretation of a photograph I took when I visited Carceri in April.
Doorways are an invitation to enter where I have not entered, to see what I have not seen, and most of all, to meet the Lord.
Francis and the Durian
Francis is seated in a position of prayer and openness: to some, durians are thorny, stinky and not to be appreciated, but this is the external (the darker left hand side with more thorns); Francis, however, sees all with eyes of love, hence even durians are nourishment and pleasure (the lighter yellowish-green side with lesser thorns), and this is internal. And so, he embraces the fruit with both hands.
For us, externals may not always seem to be what it is - we have got to look inside - that's where pure love and goodness is; and that's what Francis is reminding us to do - to love Love.
To some, he looks sad. To me, he is quietly contemplating.
